Laminate Upkeep

  • First, vacuum using a vacuum without a beater bar, sweep or dust mop the floors to eliminate loose dirt and grit.
  • Only use the laminate cleaner that is specifically made by the manufacturer for your particular floor.
  • Periodically using a damp mop will restore your floors shine.
  • After damp mopping, a clean, dry cloth should be used to soak up excess moisture.
  • Soap-based detergents or “mop and shine” products should never be used.
  • Abrasive cleaners, steel wool or scouring powder should never be used.
  • Flooding your laminate floor with water or cleaners can ruin your floors.
  • Use floor protectors on the bottom of your furniture and lift furniture to move instead of dragging it across your floor.
  • Use doormats or walk-off mats to collect excessive moisture and dirt at each entryway.
  • Do not attempt to sand or refinish your laminate floor without a professional.
